Group A of the Empower Super League (ESL) Season 3 is shaping up into a tight three-way race, with SCEPTRE and Nixor College trading big results while Foundation Public School remain in the hunt with games still to play.
SCEPTRE registered a commanding 68-run win over Foundation Public School at Al Nadil Al Burhani Ground, Karachi after putting up a strong total and then bowling Foundation out cheaply.
Batting first, SCEPTRE posted 174/9 in 20 overs, led by Shahzain Ali Khan’s 59 off 44 balls (six fours, one six). Usayd provided late momentum with 48 off 29, striking seven fours and two sixes.
In reply, Foundation Public School were bundled out for 106 in 16.5 overs, with Hassan Patel top-scoring with 31 off 39. Shahzain’s all-round impact earned him the Player of the Match award.
In the next fixture, Nixor College defeated SCEPTRE by five wickets, chasing 157/5 in 14.2 overs after SCEPTRE were dismissed for 156 in 19.5 overs. Aariz Danish starred with a blistering 72 off 31 (12 fours, two sixes) and was named Player of the Match, while Saad Sameer chipped in with 47 off 34 (seven fours). For SCEPTRE, Usayd again impressed, scoring 43 off 39 (three fours, three sixes) and taking 4/35.
After these results, all three Group A teams remain in contention for a semi-final berth, making the remaining league games crucial.
ESL Season 3 is being held in Karachi from January 20–30, featuring six college teams split into two groups, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals, alongside team and individual prizes.
